Srinagar, July 22 (NVI): The government has approved the construction of two Unity Malls in Jammu and Kashmir, one each in Srinagar and Jammu, at a total cost of ₹255 crore, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Wednesday.
In a post on X, Abdullah said the malls will serve as dedicated platforms for local artisans, handloom and handicraft products, Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged goods and regional entrepreneurs.
He said the projects are aimed at creating vibrant commercial spaces that will promote tourism, trade and employment across the Union Territory.
The chief minister said the initiative is expected to strengthen market access for local producers while showcasing Jammu and Kashmir’s rich traditional crafts and indigenous products to visitors and buyers.(NVI)
