Srinagar, Dec 23 (NVI): National Conference MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi today announced that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has assured the resolution of the reservation policy issue in Jammu and Kashmir within six months.

After meeting the chief minister alongside a students’ delegation, Ruhullah stated that the assurance marks progress toward addressing longstanding grievances. “The chief minister has given a timeline, stating that the cabinet sub-committee will finalize its decision within six months, or possibly sooner,” Ruhullah said.

The meeting followed a massive protest by student associations outside the chief minister’s residence, demanding a fair and rational reservation policy. Leaders including NC MP Aga Ruhullah and PDP members Waheed ur Rehman Parra and Iltija Mufti joined the demonstration.

Ruhullah highlighted that while the assurance is a positive step, procedural limitations remain as the Rules of Business for the policy are yet to be notified (News Vibes of India)
