Coronavirus cases surge past 129.5 million worldwide

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 129.5 million, with over 2,827,000 deaths reported. Over 73.4 million patients have been cured of the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection has reached to more than 30.5 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,53,000 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 12.8 million-mark and stand at 12,839,844 while the number of deaths has surged past 3,25,000.

Furthermore, France recorded 50,659 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, down from Wednesday’s figures of 59,038, the health ministry data showed. The country also recorded 308 new deaths in hospital, bringing the total tally to 69,904.

Mexico reported 5,381 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 454 more fatalities, bringing the country’s total to 2,244,268 infections and 203,664 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Canadian province of Ontario will enter a lockdown for at least four weeks on Saturday due to Covid-19 cases and intensive care unit occupancy rises, Premier Doug Ford said.
