Coronavirus cases surge past 132.3 million worldwide

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 132.3 million, with over 2,871,000 deaths reported. Over 75.1 million patients have been cured of the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection has reached to more than 30.8 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,56,000 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus catastrophe has deepened further after more than 4,000 daily deaths were reported for the first time since the outbreak began in February last year.

With this, Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 13.1 million-mark and stand at 13,100,580 while the number of deaths has surged past 3,36,000.

Furthermore, France’s health ministry reported on Tuesday that the number of people in intensive care with Covid-19 had increased by 193 in the space of 24 hours to 5,626, the highest number for almost a year.

Turkey recorded 49,584 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, health ministry data showed on Tuesday, the highest level since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) said, “It is a travesty that some countries still have not had enough access to vaccines to begin inoculating health workers and the most vulnerable people against Covid-19.”
