Coronavirus cases surpass 67.5 mn worldwide; recovered cases top 43.4 mn

New Delhi (NVI): More than 67.5 million people around the world have been confirmed to have the coronavirus, while the death toll has crossed 15,44,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. Over 43.4 million patients have recovered from the deadly disease globally.

The number of coronavirus infections in the US have surpassed 14.9 million while the number of fatalities due to the deadly contagion have crossed 2,83,000.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 66 lakh-mark and stands at 6,623,911 while the number of deaths have surged past 1,77,000 in the country.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong will ban evening dining at restaurants and close fitness centres, as part of new measures aimed at stemming a fourth wave of coronavirus infections.

South Korea has signed a deal to buy Covid-19 vaccines for 44 million people, Yonhap news agency has reported, signing deals with four companies: Pfizer, Astrazeneca, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson.

South Korea reported 594 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday as the government prepared to outline its plans to secure enough vaccine candidates to potentially vaccinate millions of people next year.

China reported 12 new Covid-19 cases on December 7, down from 15 cases a day earlier, the national health authority said on Tuesday.

Mexico’s health ministry on Monday reported 6,399 new cases of coronavirus infection and an additional 357 fatalities, bringing the country’s totals to 1,182,249 cases and 110,074 deaths.
