New Delhi (NVI): In order to contain spread of COVID-19, Maharashtra government today issued guidelines, saying vegetable shops and dairies will be open only for four hours and home delivery will not be allowed after 8 pm in the state.
According to the order, all groceries, vegetable shops, dairies, bakeries, fruit vendors will be open only between 7 am and 11 am while bakeries, confectionaries and all shops selling food including, chicken, mutton, poultry, fish and eggs, which were open until 8 pm, now only have a four-hour window.
Home deliveries may be allowed from 7 am to 8 pm, depending on local authorities.
Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in the deadly second wave of infections in the country and is among the 10 states that account for nearly 78 per cent of the new Covid cases reported in a single day.
The state government had enforced 15-day “lockdown-like” restrictions from April 14 to slow the spread of the virus, apart from weekend lockdowns.
The restrictions included a ban on gatherings and only essential activities have been exempted.
Meanwhile, a total of 58,924 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, according to the state health ministry.
As many as 52,412 people recovered in the aforesaid period and 351 died.
The total case tally reached 38,98,262 while the death toll hit 60,824.
