New Delhi: India today registered 3,17,532 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day surge after 8 months.
The country registered 491 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said.
With this, the cumulative total death toll due to the two-year-old pandemic has gone up to 4,87,693.
The number of active cases was 19,24,051 while the daily positivity rate goes up to 16.41% from 15.13%.
The count of Omicron cases has gone up to 9,287, with a 3.63% increase since the day earlier.
Yesterday, the government reported 2,82,970 Covid cases across the country in 24 hours, against 2,38,018 recorded during the previous day.
The country also recorded 441 deaths during the previous 24 hours.
On Monday morning, the government reported 2,58,089 single day cases being registered in the last 24 hours, 13,113 less than the previous day’s figure.
The country also recorded 385 deaths during the previous 24 hours.
On Sunday morning, the government said the single-day Covid cases registered in the country during the preceding 24 hours were 2,71,202, along with 314 deaths.
On Saturday, the government reported 2,68,833 fresh COVID cases registered in India in the previous 24 hours along with 402 deaths.
A day earlier, the government reported registration of 2,64,202 fresh Covid cases and 315 fatalities in a span of 24 hours.
