Srinagar, Oct 12 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Monday called for collective efforts by all sections of society to combat drug abuse and protect children and youth from the menace.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at Police Public School here, Prabhat said the anti-drug campaign was gaining momentum across the Union Territory under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

“These small children are the future of our country,” the DGP said, emphasising the need to safeguard the younger generation from drug abuse.

Referring to the recent crackdown on drug trafficking in Srinagar, Prabhat said several arrests had been made as part of the ongoing action against the drug menace.

Describing the fight against drugs as a collective responsibility, he stressed the need for a coordinated, whole-of-government approach along with active public participation.

“It is our duty that we participate in this fight and say no to drugs,” he added.—(NVI)
