New Delhi (NVI): The Election Commission of India has today appointed Mrinal Kanti Das as Special Police Observer for the ensuing Jharkhand Assembly Elections. The decision was taken by the Election Commission in the light of specific challenges of Left Wing Extremism affecting the law and order situation in Jharkhand.
The new police observer will oversee the deployment and other security-related issues in Ranchi.
Notably, Das retired as Director-General of Manipur Police. During 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, he was deputed as Special Observer for Tripura and Mizoram.
