Srinagar, Sep 07 (NVI): Jailed Member Parliament Er Rashid’s led Awami Itihad Party (AIP) Saturday triggered a fresh row by promising return of all power projects and compensation to J&K people due to the losses incurred by the Indus Water Treaty (IWT). The party also advocated unconditional release of all political prisoners languishing in jails.
Addressing press conference in Srinagar, the AIP leaders released the party manifesto. The party demanded unconditional release of prisoners at a time when Union Home Minister Amit has categorically rejected the release of prisoners. Shah in a press conference in Jammu stated that parties like NC and PDP want release of prisoners to promote stone pelting and terrorism in Kashmir again.
The AIP leaders, however, said in its manifesto the party demands return of all power projects and generating power on its own with local stakeholders. The AIP manifesto also calls for compensation to the J&K people due to the losses incurred by the Indus-Water Treaty. It states that a grievance cell will be set up for the redressal of issues of government employees. The leaders said that the party will strive hard for the roll back of UAPA and PSA if voted to power.
The AIP manifesto also promises complete ban on liquor sale and consumption in J&K. The document states that AIP will fight for the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits and those who fled to other side of the LoC in 1947 especially those from Rajouri, Poonch, Keran, Karnah, and other border areas. The party also stated that it will fight for restoration of Article 370 and repeal of all laws extend to J&K post August 5, 2019.
It also added that decades old Darbar Move which was cancelled by present dispensation few years ago, will also be restored for the larger interest of Jammu and Kashmir.
