New Delhi (NVI): A website claiming that the Ministry of Labour and Employment will be offering Rs 12,0000 to employees those who have worked between 1990 and 2021 is doing rounds on social media platforms.

The website read that those who have worked between 1990 and 2021 have the right to withdraw Rs 12,0000 from the Ministry of Labour and Employment. “Check if your name your name is there and if you are entitled to withdraw these funds,” it added.

Refuting the claims, the Fact Check Unit of Press Information Bureau (PIB) took to Twitter and clarified that this website is fake and the Labour Ministry has not made any such announcement.

“A website is claiming that the Ministry of Labour and Employment is giving Rs 1,20,000 to employees who have worked from 1990 to 2021.

#PIBFactCheck: This claim is Fake. There is no such announcement by the @LabourMinistry. Beware of such fraudulent websites!,” PIB tweeted.

The fake website also asks you to answer three questions and asks for your gender details in order to be entitled to withdraw the amount. This website is no longer accessible.

PIB launched this fact-checking unit in December last year, to curb such misinformation and viral fake news related to government’s policies and schemes that are widely circulated on social media platforms.
