New Delhi (NVI): A message is circulating on WhatsApp claiming that the inoculation registration for COVID-19 vaccine on the CowinApp will open in February for citizens above the age of 50.
Refuting the claims, the Fact Check Unit of Press Information Bureau (PIB) took to Twitter clarified that this claim is fake and no such decision has been taken by the government.

The viral message read, “There is a talk that registration for inoculation will open anyday now for 50+ age group citizens. Please keep watching the Cowin site and app. As yet both are only open for viewing and login by vaccinators. But the option to register could pop up sometime after February 15.”
Earlier, a fake website, impersonating as the official website of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, was claiming to offer COVID-19 vaccine for Rs 4,000- Rs 6,000 had gone viral.
The social media platforms are flooded with fake news and misinformation around coronavirus since the outbreak in India. Therefore, the government had recently urged people not to fall a prey to such fake rumours about COVID-19.
