Jammu, Nov 2 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday formally marked the resumption of Darbar Move operations in Jammu by receiving a guard of honour from a contingent of the Jammu and Kashmir Police at the Civil Secretariat.
With the seasonal shifting of the administration to the winter capital, over 100 government offices have resumed functioning in Jammu for the six-month winter session of 2026-27.
The Chief Minister is expected to hold meetings with members of the Council of Ministers and administrative secretaries to review departmental functioning and assess administrative arrangements following the relocation.
As part of the Darbar Move, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and 40 other offices have shifted completely to Jammu, while 50 designated offices have moved in camp.
These offices will function with 33 per cent of their respective staff strength or 10 officials, whichever is less, unless specified otherwise.
Security arrangements have also been strengthened around the Civil Secretariat and adjoining areas to ensure smooth functioning of official work.
The nearly 150-year-old Darbar Move tradition involves the seasonal shifting of the government headquarters between Srinagar and Jammu.
The practice was discontinued in 2021 but restored by the elected government in November 2025.—(NVI)
