Srinagar, Nov 1 (NVI): Police have registered an FIR and detained four persons for questioning following a stone-pelting incident during Isha prayers at Pehroo Sherbagh in Anantnag district, officials said on Sunday.
According to police, an altercation broke out over offering prayers at a house that had been converted into a place of worship, following which some miscreants allegedly pelted stones during Isha prayers.
The incident resulted in minor damage, police said, adding that personnel immediately rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
An FIR has been registered at the concerned police station under number 404/2026, and four persons have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident.
Investigation into the matter is underway, the police spokesperson said.
Police appealed to the public not to give any communal colour to the incident or circulate unverified information, asserting that the law and order situation remains normal and under control.—(NVI)
