Srinagar, Nov 21 (NVI) National Conference President today urged the Government of India to conduct a detailed inquiry into allegations of financial misconduct involving the Adani Group.
The NC chief advocated a probe by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
Addressing media men in Srinagar, Dr Farooq underlined the need for accountability and transparency. “The demand for a JPC probe is gaining momentum, and the government must take it seriously. A complete and impartial investigation is necessary to reveal the truth and understand the circumstances behind these allegations,” he said.
While avoiding direct comments on recent statements by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Dr Farooq acknowledged the issue’s growing international significance. “If the allegations turn out to be accurate, it raises serious concerns. These matters require openness and honesty to maintain public trust,” he added.
The NC president also brought attention to claims involving officials in Jammu and Kashmir during 2021-2022, urging local authorities to conduct their own investigation. “Our administration in Jammu and Kashmir must look into these accusations independently. With time, the full picture will emerge, and any wrongdoings must be addressed effectively,” he said.
The ongoing controversy has become a focal point of political discourse, with opposition parties demanding greater scrutiny and accountability over the alleged financial irregularities.
About J&K government, the Dr Farooq said that it is the people’s government and people must pin point the governments’ faults. “Gunda Raj is over and people are supreme to make the government accountable,” he said. (News Vibes of India)
