New Delhi (NVI): The government of Gujarat today decided to extended the night curfew in four major cities till March 31, to prevent the fresh surge in coronavirus cases across the state.
The night curfew imposed in four metro cities of Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot will observed from March 17 to 31 between 10 pm to 6 am.
“Pre-night curfew system will be maintained in these four cities till March 16 from 12 pm to 6 am,” the state government said in a order.
According to the reports, the decision was taken after Gujarat’s Deputy CM Nitin Patel with senior officials held a meeting to review the coronavirus situation in the state.
This is the sixth extension of the night curfew, which first came into force in November last year after a spurt in COVID-19 cases in these cities.
Meanwhile, the state has registered 2,79,097 coronavirus cases with 890 fresh cases reported in last 24 hours. The COVID-19 death toll stood at 4,425 in Gujarat.
