Haryana bans public Holi celebrations

    New Delhi (NVI): After Delhi, Haryana government has announced to ban public celebrations on Holi in the state to curb the spread of coronavirus.

    “In the light of the COVID-19 situation, public celebration of Holi will not be allowed in the state,” Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said today.

    Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Odisha and Mumbai in Maharashtra have also announced similar restrictions on Holi celebrations.

    Holi 2021 will be a low-key affair across India as the Centre has asked all the states and Union Territories to take adequate measures to tackle the pandemic ahead of the festive season.

    Haryana reported three more coronavirus-related fatalities today, taking the death toll to 3,104, while 895 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 2,81,588.
