Heavy rains likely over several parts of India

New Delhi: Heavy to very heavy rainfall along with lightning and thunderstorms are likely over North, Central and eastern parts of India, the IMD said today.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), “Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Uttarakhand and south Konkan & Goa.”

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe; Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, East Uttar Pradesh, ” the IMD said.

“Jharkhand, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places over Chandigarh and Delhi will also witness heavy rainfall today, it said.

The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms with lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated places over Kerala & Mahe.

Lightning at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.

Strong winds (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over Southwest & Westcentral Arabian Sea; along & off Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala coasts, the IMD said.
