IAF fighters included in Passage Exercise with US Navy for first time

New Delhi (NVI): In a first, Indian Air Force fighters were also included in the Passage Exercise between the India and US Navies that was held in Eastern Indian Ocean Region (IOR), providing IAF an opportunity to practice air interception or air defence with the US Navy close to Indian coast.

Indian Navy’s INS Shivalik warship with integral helicopter and Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft P8I participated in the Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with US Navy’s USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group in the Eastern Indian Ocean Region today, the Navy said in a tweet.

“Consolidating synergy & interoperability achieved during #Malabar2020 #INSShivalik with integral helicopter and IndianNavy’s Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft P8I participated in a Passage Exercise with @USNavy’s #USSTheodoreRosevelt #CarrierStrikeGroup in Eastern #IOR,” it said.

“In a #first, enhancing #Jointmanship, #IndianAirForce fighters were also included in the Exercise affording #IAF an opportunity to practice Air Interception/Air Defence with @USNavy close to Indian Coast,” the Navy said in another tweet.
