Srinagar, Sep 4 (NVI): Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting here to assess preparedness for the forthcoming International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting, held at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir, was attended by senior officers from the J&K Police, CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, Army, intelligence agencies and civil administration, besides officials from traffic, tourism, information and fire and emergency services.
The meeting reviewed security arrangements, deployment plans and preparedness measures for the smooth and secure conduct of the festival, officials said.
Detailed discussions were held on venue security, access control, surveillance, crowd management, traffic regulation, emergency response and coordination among various agencies.
Kumar stressed the need for adequate and strategically planned deployment at all identified venues, keeping in view the expected movement of visitors, participants, dignitaries and other stakeholders.
He also directed officers to ensure thorough route clearance and appropriate deployment of Road Opening Parties along designated routes for secure and uninterrupted movement during the festival.
The IGP further emphasised effective crowd management, regulated entry and exit points and smooth vehicular movement around festival venues. Officers were directed to deploy adequate personnel at vulnerable and congested points to minimise inconvenience to the public.
Kumar called for close coordination and real-time sharing of information among all participating agencies to maintain a robust security grid throughout the event.
He directed officers to remain alert, strengthen surveillance and undertake preventive security measures well in advance, officials said.
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive review of the preparedness measures and directions to further strengthen security arrangements in coordination with all concerned agencies, they added.—(NVI)
