Srinagar (NVI): Five Corporators from Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) unfurled the national flag for the first time at Gupkar road in Srinagar.
The tricolor was hoisted near the residences of two former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.
Furthermore, top politicians of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir including Mehbooba Mufti have their bungalows on Gupkar road.
According to sources, five independent corporators assembled at Gupkar and hoisted the tricolor in presence of security personnel.
All these corporators are independent. Aquib Renzu Shah, one of the corporators who was present on the occasion told NVI that besides him, there was corporator Asif Beigh from Jogi Lankar Ward, Muhammad Saleem Bhat from Mehjoor Nagar Ward, Inayit Ahmed from Nawab Bazar Ward and Shaheena Bhat from Raj Bagh Ward who hoisted the flag and showered flower petals.
Meanwhile, the newly elected Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu also unfurled the national flag and inspected the J&K police guard in the SMC complex at Karan Nagar today.
