New Delhi (NVI): India on Saturday condoled the loss of lives in a train mishap in Taiwan.
Yesterday, at least 48 people were killed and dozens more injured after a train carrying nearly 500 people crashed and derailed in a tunnel in Taiwan.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of so many lives in the railway accident in Taiwan. Our deepest condolences to the families. And our prayers for the early recovery of the injured,” Arindam Bagchi, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs tweeted.

In response, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) thanked India for the expression of sentiment and support.

The train was heading to the eastern city of Taitung, from capital Taipei.
The accident is being termed as the deadliest rail tragedy in decades in the country.
