New Delhi (NVI): With 12,923 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, India’s coronavirus cases tally reached 10,871,294, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.
The death count climbed to 1,55,360 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 108 lives during this period, the data showed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.43 per cent.
Currently, more than 1.05 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stand at 10,573,372 pushing the national recovery rate to 97.26 per cent.
There are 1,42,562 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which accounts for 1.31 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 20,52,253 followed by Kerala with 9,83,374 and Karnataka with 9,43,627 positive cases.
The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,88,605), Tamil Nadu (8,43,209), Delhi (6,36,387) and Uttar Pradesh (6,01,723).
Meanwhile, India has become the fastest country in the world to achieve more than 70 lakh vaccinations against COVID-19 in just 26 days, yet another significant achievement in fight against the pandemic, the Health Ministry said.
The total cumulative vaccination coverage includes 57,05,228 healthcare workers (HCWs) and 13,11,886 frontline workers (FLWs), while 1,43,056 sessions have been conducted so far.
