New Delhi (NVI): India registered 16,488 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 1,11,92,088, according to Union Health Ministry data.
108 new COVID-19 fatalities have been reported across the country, taking the death toll to 1,57,656.
However, the daily new coronavirus cases and fatalities continue to show a upward slide in India.
Currently, a total of 1,08,54,128 patients have been cured an recovered across the country, while the active cases remained above 1.80 lakh mark and stands at 1,80,304.
In worst-affected Maharashtra 10,216 new coronavirus cases were reported on Friday, the highest number of single-day cases in nearly 5 months which increased the tally to 21,98,339.
The state is followed by Kerala with 10,72,436 and Karnataka with 9,53,813 positive cases.
The other worst hit states include Andhra Pradesh, (8,90,441), Tamil Nadu (8,53,992), Delhi (6,40,494) and Uttar Pradesh (6,04,034).

In another development, nearly 1.95 crore (1,94,97,704) beneficiaries have been vaccinated against COVID-19 since the beginning of vaccination drive in India, the Health Ministry data shows.
