New Delhi (NVI): India saw a rise of 9,102 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 10,676,838, Union Health Ministry confirmed.
After staying in five figures for 230 days, India’s daily Covid-19 case count dropped below the 10,000 mark today. The country had last reported covid cases below 10,000 on June 8.
Deaths from the pandemic also dipped to 117, the lowest single-day toll reported since May 15 last year, and took the toll to 1,53,587.
Currently, the number of recovered cases in the country have crossed 10.3 million and stands at 10,345,985.
Meanwhile, active coronavirus cases in India have dropped further below and stands at 1,77,266 at a time when the country is undergoing the world’s biggest vaccination drive.
Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 20,10,948 covid cases followed by Karnataka with 9,36,426 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 8,87,066 cases.
In another development, a total of 20,23,809 have been vaccinated so far, according to health ministry’s updated data.
