India reports 3,32,730 Covid cases, 2,263 deaths amid Oxygen crisis

New Delhi(NVI): India reported 332,730 fresh coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours which pushed the country’s caseload to over 16.3 million. Amid oxygen shortage and the faltering health system in the country, India saw 2,263 deaths in the highest single-day spike.

The death toll from the deadly infection stands at 186,928. The country now has more than 2.4 million active cases.

India on Thursday registered 314,835 new Covid-19 cases and 2102 deaths.

This is the second straight that the country is reporting over three lakh cases. India is second only to the United States in the total number of cases reported since the beginning of the pandemic.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold a series of meetings today, including one with chief ministers of states with a high burden of coronavirus cases.
