New Delhi (NVI): India coronavirus tally has crossed the 9.5 million mark and currently stands at 95,34,965, with a single-day rise of 35,551 cases in last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said.
The country’s death toll due to the virus rose to 1,38,648, with 526 patients succumbing to the infection since yesterday
Notably, a total of 89,73,373 patients have been cured or discharged so far, while the active cases stands at 4,22,943, as per the ministry data.
With this, the national recovery rate stood at 94.03 per cent, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.47 per cent in the country.
In the worst-affected Maharashtra, COVID-19 confirmed cases increased to 18,32,176 which include 47,357 deaths. The active cases in the state stand at 89,611 and 16,95,208 recoveries.
Maharashtra is followed by Karnataka (8,87,667), Andhra Pradesh (8,69,412), Tamil Nadu (7,84,747), Kerala (6,14,643) and Uttar Pradesh (5,47,308).
Meanwhile, the national capital has registered 5,78,342 COVID-19 cases, while 9,342 people have died of the virus in Delhi.
Over 14.35 crore samples tested for COVID-19 up to December 2. Of these 11,11,698 samples were tested yesterday, as per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data.
Furthermore, the Gujarat High Court yesterday directed the state government to make community service at coronavirus care centres mandatory for people found without protective masks. The order came on a petition seeking an increase in the fine amount for not wearing masks.
