India’s Covid tally nears 3.50 lakh

New Delhi: India continues to witness a surge in Covid numbers, with 3,47,254 fresh cases and 703 fatalities being registered in the last 24 hours.

With this, the cumulative total death toll due to the two-year-old pandemic has gone up to 4,88,396.

The number of active cases was 20,18,825 while the daily positivity rate goes up to 17.94% from 16.41%, according to the Health Ministry.

The count of Omicron cases has gone up to 9,692, with a 4.36% increase since the day earlier, the Ministry said.

Yesterday, the government reported 3,17,532 Covid cases and 491 fatalities in 24 hours.

A day prior to that, the government reported 2,82,970 Covid cases across the country in 24 hours, against 2,38,018 cases recorded a day earlier.

The country also recorded 441 deaths during the previous 24 hours.

On Monday morning, the government reported 2,58,089 single day cases being registered in the last 24 hours, 13,113 less than the previous day’s figure.

The country also recorded 385 deaths during the previous 24 hours.

On Sunday morning, the government said the single-day Covid cases registered in the country during the preceding 24 hours were 2,71,202, along with 314 deaths.

On Saturday, the government reported 2,68,833 fresh COVID cases registered in India in the previous 24 hours along with 402 deaths.
