New Delhi (NVI): The total number of coronavirus cases in India increased to 97,67,372 with a single-day rise of 31,522 new cases in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry confirmed.
The country’s death toll due to the virus rose to 1,41,772, with 412 patients succumbing to the infection since yesterday.
Currently, 92,53,306 patients have been cured an recovered all over the country, while the active cases remained below 4-lakh mark and stands at 3,72,293.
In worst-hit Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 18,64,348 followed by Karnataka with 8,96,563 cases, and Andhra Pradesh with 8,73,457 cases.
Maharashtra has also reported the highest number of fatalities at 47,902 followed by 11,900 in Karnataka and 11,836 in Tamil Nadu.
The other worst affected states are Tamil Nadu (7,94,020), Kerala (6,49,571), Delhi (5,99,575) and Uttar Pradesh (5,59,499).
Meanwhile, the death toll in the national capital rose to 9,813, while 5,69,216 patients in Delhi have recovered so far, the healthy ministry data shows.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, more than 15 crore samples tested for COVID-19 up to December 9. Out of these, 9,22,959 samples were tested yesterday.
Furthermore, the Supreme Court yesterday said that putting up posters or signs outside the homes of COVID-positive patients was no longer required unless there was direction from a competent authority.
