India’s covid tally rises by 12,286 fresh cases, 91 deaths

New Delhi (NVI): With 12,286 new coronavirus infections being reported in the last 24 hours, the overall tally has climber to 11,124,527, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.

The death count climbed to 1,57,248 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 91 lives during this period, the data showed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.42 per cent.

Currently, more than 1.07 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stand at 10,798,921. The recovery rate now stands at 97.17 per cent.

Meanwhile, there are 1,68,358 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country.

Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 21,61,467 COVID-19 cases followed by Kerala with 10,61,341 and Karnataka with 9,51,600 positive cases.

The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,89,974), Tamil Nadu (8,52,016), Delhi (6,39,464) and Uttar Pradesh (6,03,608).

Meanwhile, Judges of the Supreme Court will get COVID-19 vaccine shots from today. Those eligible for the vaccine in the drive starting today also includes the families of the judges and retired judges.
