New Delhi (NVI): With 47,262 new coronavirus infections being reported in the last 24 hours, the overall tally has climbed to 11,734,058, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.
India has recorded more than 40,000 positive cases for the fifth consecutive day. The country recorded 40,715 fresh Covid cases on Tuesday and 46,951 cases on Monday.
The death count climbed to 1,60,441 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 275 lives during this period, the data showed.
Currently, more than 1.12 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stands at 11,205,160.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 active caseload increased to 3,68,457 with an increase of 23,080 cases in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra has reported 28,699 new cases since yesterday. Furthermore, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have also been showing a worrying surge in Covid cases.
With this, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 25,33,026 COVID-19 cases followed by Kerala with 11,07,452 and Karnataka with 9,73,657 positive cases.
The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,94,536), Tamil Nadu (8,69,804), Delhi (6,49,973) and Uttar Pradesh (6,08,709).
