India’s Covid tally tops 10.8 mn with 11,713 fresh cases

New Delhi (NVI): With 11,713 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, India’s coronavirus cases tally reached 10,814,304, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.

95 new COVID-19 fatalities have been reported across the country, taking the death toll to 1,54,918.

However, the daily new COVID-19 cases and deaths continue to follow a downward slide.

Currently, more than 1.05 crore patients have been cured an recovered across the country, while the active cases dropped to 1.48 lakh mark and stands at 1,48,590.

In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 20,38,630 followed by Kerala with 9,56,421 and Karnataka with 9,41,500 positive cases. The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh, (8,88,275), Tamil Nadu (8,40,849), Delhi (6,35,793) and Uttar Pradesh (6,01,128)

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry data shows that 5,416,849 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 so far in the country.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, over 20.6 crore samples tested for COVID-19 up to February 5. Of these, 7,40,794 samples were tested yesterday,

Apart from this, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan yesterday said that, India has become the first country in the world to reach the 5 million COVID-19 vaccination mark in just 21 days.
