India’s maiden largest biotech summit on bio-energy concludes

New Delhi (NVI): Showcasing potential of India’s Biotechnology sector at the international level, the country’s maiden largest biotechnology traders summit on bio-energy and bio-services has concluded here today.

The Global Bio-India summit has provided an opportunity to promote country’s key challenges in the areas of bio-pharma, bio-Agri, bio-Industrial, bio-Energy and bio-Services and allied sectors at the global level.

“Going by the tremendous success of the mega event, the Department plans to turn the GBI into an annual event with support from all stakeholders,” said Dr Renu Swarup, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology & Chairperson BIRAC on the concluding day of the event.

The three-day stakeholders gathering was organized by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology along with it’s Public Sector Undertaking, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).

Biotechnology is recognized as the sunrise sector- a key driver for contributing to India’s USD 5 Trillion economy target by 2025, said an official statement.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Association of Biotechnology Led  Enterprises  (ABLE)  and Invest India were the associated partners at the event.
