COVID-19 threatens people with heart diseases, as winter hints at a second wave

New Delhi: India continues to witness a massive spike in COVID cases, as 1,79,723 new COVID cases and 146 deaths were being registered across the country.

The number of reported Omicron cases across the country has gone up to 4,033 and 1,552 of them have recovered, Union Health Ministry said today.

Yesterday, 1,59,632 fresh cases were reported in 24 hours, against 1,41,986 recorded during the preceding day.

The deaths during the previous 24-hour period were 327.

Nearly 46,569 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,45,00,172.

The daily positivity rate of Covid has gone up to 13.29% from 10.21% and the active cases stood at 7,23,619.

The cumulative death toll due to the Covid pandemic has reached 4,83,936.

On Saturday, the number of fresh single day COVID cases reported was 1,41,986.
