UPDATE:
Srinagar: Five heavily-armed Pakistani terrorists, with evil plans to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir, were killed while trying to infiltrate today by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP).
The fresh infiltration attempt once again exposed Pakistan’s dual face with regard to the border ceasefire as such actions are undertaken by the terrorists with the support and guidance of the Pakistan Army.
The unidentified terrorists were trying to sneak into the Kashmir Valley from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) when they were intercepted and neutralised in Kupwara District.
“In the recent past, a large number of intelligence inputs were received from various intelligence agencies about likely infiltration of terrorists from across Line of Control,” General Officer Commanding of Kupwara-based Vajr Division Major General Girish Kalia told reporters.
Yesterday, a specific intelligence input was received of likely infiltration along Jumagund Nar from JKP and a Joint Operation was launched by the Indian Army and JKP in Keran Sector wherein multiple ambushes were laid along the likely routes of infiltration, he said.
At around midnight hours, ambush teams observed 5 heavily-armed terrorists crossing the Line of Control (LoC).
The terrorists were engaged by ambush teams along the fence in spite of adverse weather and terrain conditions, Maj Gen Kalia said.
“The ensuing firefight resulted in elimination of 5 infiltrating terrorists without any collateral damage,” he said.
The operation continued throughout the night and the detailed search of the area was carried during early morning.
The identity of the slain terrorists and their outfit is being ascertained.

From the slain terrorists, a large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered.
These include 5 AK series rifles, 14 grenades, 500 AK rounds, night vision goggles and other stuff.
“This successful intelligence-based operation is yet another example of close synergy between Indian Army and JKP,” Maj Gen Kalia said.
“The operation clearly establishes the evil design of terrorist groups which are determined to disrupt peace in Kashmir,” he said, adding, “It also exposes the facade of false commitment to the ceasefire understanding by Pakistan which has repeatedly been exploited to perpetrate terror in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Indian security forces stand steadfast to defeat the nefarious designs of inimical elements to disrupt peace and harmony in Kashmir, the Army official asserted.
