J&K: 3 terrorists gunned down, cop killed in Srinagar encounter

Srinagar (NVI): Three militants were killed in an overnight encounter at Panthachowk area of Srinagar  while an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of J&K police also lost his life.

A senior police officer said that three militants were killed in the night-long encounter. “Their identity is being ascertained,” he said.

He said that the ASI of J&K police Babu Ram who was earlier critically injured, succumbed to his injuries at 92 Base hospital of Army in Srinagar.

Last evening,  three bike-borne militants had attacked a joint team of police and CRPF at Panthachowk area of Srinagar, in which no  casualities took place.

Soon after the incident, a cordon and search operation started in the area that led to the encounter. The encounter was on through out the night and ended at 6 am, police officials said.
