Jammu, July 08 (NVI):- At least 4 soldiers were killed and 6 injured as a group of terrorists attacked a convoy of Indian Army in Kathua district of Jammu region, in second attack in in a month in the otherwise peaceful area.
The terrorists struck in a mountainous area near Badnota village about 150 kms from the Kathua town at around 3.30 PM, officials said.
The terrorists hurled grenades and opened fire, targeting Army vehicles which were on a routine patrol on the Machedi-Kindli-Malhar road.
The soldiers retaliated and there was an exchange of fire for some time.
However, the terrorists managed to escape into the nearby forest where a hunt is underway.
The injured soldiers were shifted to two hospitals where four succumbed to injuries while 6 are being treated, the officials said.

This the second act of terrorism in Kathua, which has been a peaceful district, since June 12 when two Pakistani terrorists struck, killing a CRPF jawan before being killed.
