Srinagar, Sep 22 (NVI): The second day of the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly session, Rajouri MLA Iftkhar Ahmed raised the issue of the recent flash floods in the Rajouri-Poonch region and sought comprehensive relief and rehabilitation measures for the affected people.
The MLA demanded revision of the existing State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) compensation norms to ensure adequate compensation to families affected by the floods, including those who suffered loss of lives, damage to houses and property, and destruction of crops and agricultural land.
He also called for a special relief and rehabilitation package for Rajouri and Poonch districts to address the losses caused by the natural calamity.
The MLA further sought permanent restoration and reconstruction of roads, bridges and other vital infrastructure damaged in the floods, stressing the need for long-term measures to ensure connectivity and rehabilitation in the affected areas.—(NVI)
