Srinagar, Aug 8 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness increased rainfall activity over the next few days, with the Meteorological Centre in Srinagar forecasting heavy to very heavy rain in some districts of the Jammu division between August 9 and 11.
According to the latest forecast, one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at many places in the Union Territory on Saturday, with brief intense showers likely at a few locations.
From August 9 to 11, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at most places, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at a few districts of the Jammu division. Brief intense heavy showers may also occur at a few places in the Kashmir division.
For August 12 to 17, the weather office has forecast the possibility of light rain and thundershowers at many places, with brief intense showers at a few locations.
The Meteorological Centre has advised people to remain cautious as torrential rain and brief intense heavy showers could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas besides causing waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Authorities and residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert during periods of intense rainfall.(NVI)
