Rajouri, Oct 3 (NVI): Nine health officials and employees have been served explanation calls after they were found absent from their places of duty during a surprise visit by Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Nowshera, officials said on Saturday.
The action was initiated by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Rajouri, based on reports submitted by the Tehsildar, Nowshera, and Block Medical Officer, Nowshera, regarding the absence of the employees, they said.
Those served notices include Medical Officers Dr Abdul Hamid, Dr Baba Singh, Dr Mohd Rayaz and Dr Karuna Khajurin, Dental Surgeon Dr Manoj Kumar, Junior Pharmacist Romit Kumar, Dental Technician Zahoor Ahmed Malik, Junior Laboratory Technician Sanjay Kumar and LHV Shashi Bala.
The CMO office, in the explanation calls, said the absence during working hours was viewed seriously as it affected official discipline and the discharge of duties.
The officials have been directed to submit their written explanations within 24 hours of receiving the notices, along with documentary evidence wherever applicable.
The Block Medical Officer-cum-DDO, Nowshera, has also been directed to deduct two days’ salary from each of the nine employees and deposit the amount into the Red Cross Fund.
The CMO office said failure to submit the explanation within the stipulated period, or an unsatisfactory response, could lead to further disciplinary action under the applicable rules.—(NVI)
