Srinagar, Jun 28 (NVI): The Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out intensive high-altitude training and operational drills at Mahagunas Top as part of preparations for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, officials said on Sunday.
The exercises focused on mountain rescue operations, casualty evacuation and emergency response in challenging terrain to enhance the team’s operational preparedness.
Officials said the drills were aimed at strengthening the police’s capability to respond swiftly to emergencies and ensure the safety of pilgrims undertaking the annual pilgrimage.
The training forms part of the overall security and disaster-response preparations for the yatra, with the Jammu and Kashmir Police reinforcing its readiness to provide a safe and secure environment for devotees.(NVI)
