J&K Polls : Arrangements for Migrant Voters reviewed in Udhampur

Udhampur, Sep 16 (NVI): Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) Dr. Arvind Karwani on Saturday visited the Government Industrial Training Institute Udhampur to review preparations for the forth coming General Elections to the Legislative Assembly.

In an official statement issued here, Dr Karwani, accompanied by Assistant Returning Officer (M) Udhampur Tanveer-Ul Majid Wani and Zonal Officer Udhampur Raj Kumar, took stock of the special polling station arrangements in order to facilitate the Kashmiri migrant voters.

He was made aware of the process of collection and distribution of poll materials and the process of count tally. Dr. Karwani highlighted the process of preparation of Assured Minimum Facilities like ramps, provision of drinking water, and toilet facilities as per norms of the Election Commission of India.

He directed the district officer and staff to “contact the electors at areas away from camp areas.” He asked all polling staff to be strictly disciplined to hold free and fair elections.

Special polling stations have been opened in the Jammu and Udhampur districts and in Delhi for Kashmiri migrants. The district has ensured means of transport to reach all the minimum one polling station opened at least in each zone. All arrangements have also been made for the second phase of polling on 25 September for Central Kashmir and for the third phase on October 1 for North Kashmir.     (News Vibes of India)
