J&K: Grenade, pistol recovered during search operation in Srinagar

Srinagar (NVI): Security forces today recovered a hand grenade and pistol from a residential house in Natipora area of Srinagar during a search operation while terrorists, believed to be two in number, managed to flee, officials said.

Officials said that this morning, joint teams of police and CRPF launched a search operation in the Azad Basti area of Natipora in Srinagar on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area.

“When the joint teams zeroed in on the suspected house, they found a hand grenade and a pistol. The terrorists believed to be two in number, had managed to flee from the house,” a police official stated.

He said that cordon has been tightened in the area and a massive search is on to track the terrorists. The official said that all entry and exit points in Srinagar have been put on a high alert to keep the eye on suspected persons.

“The CCTV footage is also being checked thoroughly to find out the route taken by the terrorists while escaping,” a police official said.

Residents of the area said that many houses were searched thoroughly by the police and CRPF men jointly.
