Srinagar (NVI): A woman Special Police Officer (SPO) was arrested by police in Kulgam while her service was terminated for “glorifying terrorism” and “obstructing” government officials in discharge of their duty, police said today.
“Kulgam Police arrests woman SPO, terminates her service for glorifying terrorism & obstructing govt officials in discharge of their duty. FIR No 19/2021 U/S 353 IPC, 13 UAP Act stands registered in PS Yaripora & investigation is in progress,” District Police Kulgam said in a tweet today.

According to reports, after receiving specific inputs on presence of terrorists in Karewa Mohallah of Frisal village in Kulgam, a search operation was launched.
During the search, the SPO identified as Saima Akhter obstructed the security officials and turned violent. As per an official, she also uttered statements glorifying violent actions of terrorism in the Valley.
Saima also captured a video of search party doing their job and posted it on social media, in an irresponsible action to create confusion and chaos, according to the official.
However, she was arrested and terminated from service with immediate effect and slapped with Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
