New Delhi, Nov 5 (NVI): The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Thursday successfully conducted the flight test of its quasi-ballistic missile ‘Pralay’ from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast, marking a significant milestone ahead of its induction into the armed forces.

The missile was test-fired at around 11.10 am as part of user evaluation trials, with all test objectives successfully achieved, officials said.

The performance of the missile was confirmed through data captured by various range instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur.

The missile has been indigenously developed by Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, along with other DRDO laboratories, while Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), one of its development-cum-production partners, has manufactured the system.

The flight test was witnessed by senior DRDO officials, representatives of industry partners and the Defence Forces.

With the successful completion of the trial, the induction of the missile system into the armed forces is now imminent, officials said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Defence Forces and industry partners on the successful flight test.

He said the missile, equipped with advanced technologies, would further enhance the technological capabilities and operational preparedness of the armed forces to deal with emerging threats.

Defence Secretary and Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development, and DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh also congratulated the teams involved in the successful test.—(NVI)
