Kashmir: 4 terrorists killed in 2 overnight encounters

Srinagar: Security forces eliminated 4 Pakistan-backed terrorists in 2 separate encounters overnight in Shopian district of Kashmir.

The encounters, almost simultaneously, took place in Drach and Moolu villages when a search operation, on the basis of specific information, was launched by the security forces to hunt down the hiding terrorists.

The gunfights were triggered after terrorists opened fire on the security forces while they were closing in to the suspected locations.

In Moolu encounter, a terrorist affiliated with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed, the police said, adding the operation is still underway.

In Drach encounter, 3 terrorists of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed, the police said.

The terrorists eliminated in Drach encounter were involved in recent killing of SPO and non local labourer, ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.

“Killed #milltants Hanan Bin Yaqoob & Jamshed were involved in recent #killing of SPO Javed Dar on 2/10/22 at Pinglana in #Pulwama & an outside labourer from West Bengal on 24/9/22 in Pulwama: ADGP Kashmir,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
