Srinagar, Oct 23: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President Mehbooba Mufti has called on the Central government to start talks with Pakistan, stating that dialogue is essential for peace and stability in Kashmir.
After visiting the family of slain Doctor Shahnawaz Dar, one of the victims of the Gagangir attack, Mehbooba Mufti told reporters that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered greatly due to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.
“The lives of people, their properties, and livelihoods have been devastated here,” she stated.
She remarked that meaningful discussions, similar to those pursued during former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s administration, are necessary to improve the situation. “The common people of J&K are bearing the brunt of this enmity,” she noted.
Mehbooba pointed out that both laborers and healthcare workers in the region have become victims of the hostility. She criticized the government’s inconsistent approach toward dialogue with Pakistan, stating that mixed messages hinder the peace process. (News Vibes of India)
