Kashmir: Terrorists kill 2 non-locals, injure one

Srinagar: Stepping up attacks on non-locals in Kashmir, Pakistan-supported terrorists today killed 2 such persons, including a Bank Manager, and wounded a third one in the Valley.

In the morning, the terrorists gunned down a bank manager hailing from Rajasthan.

26-year-old Vijay Kumar, Manager of Ellaquai Dehati Bank, was shot in his office in Arreh area of Kulgam district of Kashmir this morning, police said.

A CCTV footage of the incident showed a gunman opening the door and firing at Kumar from a close range.

He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but he succumbed before reaching there.

Hailing from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan, Kumar had got married only a few months back and his wife had recently joined him in Kashmir.

He had been working in Kashmir since 2019 and was posted to the Arreh branch of the bank only a week back, sources said.

In the night, terrorists fired at two more non-local persons and injured them in Magraypora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

One of them succumbed to injuries at a hospital here in Srinagar, police said.

He was dentified as Dilkhush, a resident of Bihar.

The injured person was identified as Goria of Punjab and he is said to be in stable condition.

The killings come just two days after a Hindu woman teacher Rajni Bala, hailing from Jammu region, was gunned down by terrorists in the same Kulgam district.

36-year-old Rajni Bala was originally from Samba in Jammu and was working in Kashmir Valley for several years.

In the recent weeks and months, Kashmir has witnessed a spate of targeted killing of Kashmiri Pandits and other Hindus from outside Kashmir by terrorists.

On May 12, a Kashmiri Pandit employee Rahul Bhat was gunned down inside his office at Chadoora in Budgam district.

Since then, three employees belonging to the minority Hindu community have been killed in Kashmir by the terrorists.

These targeted killings have created a fear among Kashmiri Pandit employees, working in Kashmir under the Prime Minister’s Special Employment Package, and Hindu employees from Jammu and other states posted in the Kashmir Valley.
