Srinagar: Terrorists struck at two separate places in Kashmir since last night, killing a labourer from Bihar and injuring a policeman.
In one incident, terrorists shot at Amrez, a 19-year-old resident of Madhepura Besarh in Bihar, in Soadnara area of Bandipora at around 1 am, police said today.
He was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the police said.
“During intervening night, #terrorists fired upon & injured one outside #labourer Mohd Amrez S/O Mohd Jalil R/O Madhepura Besarh #Bihar at Soadnara Sumbal, #Bandipora. He was shifted to hospital for treatment where he succumbed,” the police tweeted.
Over the last one year, terrorists have carried out several targeted killings of non-Kashmiris and Kashmiri Pandits working in the Valley.
Significantly, the killing of the labourer from Bihar came hours after the chief of Kashmir Zone police said all terrorists, except one, involved in targeted killings have been eliminated by the security forces.
“Except Basit Dar of LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba), who would be either arrested or neutralised in encounter at the earliest, all terrorists involved in targeted killings have been neutralised in different encounters,” said Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar.
He made this statement after the killing of top terrorist Lateef Rather and two of his associates in an encounter in Budgam district of central Kashmir two days back.
Kumar had said Rather was involved in several civilian killings, including Kashmiri Pandit employee Rahul Bhat and a woman TV artist Amreen Bhat in May this year in Budgam.

The killing of Rahul Bhat, who was working in Kashmir under the PM’s Special Employment programme of 2010, had led to a big uproar and agitation by other such employees.
The employees voiced concern over their safety in Kashmir and demanded relocation to Jammu.
Meanwhile, this afternoon, terrorists fired at a joint party of police and CRPF in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district of Kashmir, injuring a policeman, police said.
“#Terrorists fired upon joint naka party of police/CRPF in #Bijbehara area of #Anantnag. In this #terror incident, one police personnel got injured who was immediately evacuated to hospital for treatment. Area cordoned off. Search in progress,” police said in a tweet.
