Gusty Winds, Thunderstorms to Hit Kashmir Till March 30 Night

Srinagar, Mar 29 (NVI): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast partly to generally cloudy weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the next several days, with intermittent spells of rain and snow accompanied by gusty winds.

According to the MeT department, weather conditions on March 29 and 30 are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with the possibility of intermittent light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall over higher reaches at most places. Thunder and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph are likely towards late Sunday night through Monday night, followed by gradual improvement.

On March 31, a brief spell of light rain or snow is expected at a few locations. From April 1 to 2, the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy, with isolated light rain spells. Similar conditions are expected on April 3 and 4, with scattered places likely to receive light rain or snow.

Between April 5 and 7, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy, the MeT office said.

Advisory Issued

The MeT Centre has warned of moderate rain at a few places and moderate snowfall over higher reaches of north and central Kashmir during the night of March 29 to 30, accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds.

Authorities have also cautioned about the possibility of landslides at vulnerable locations.

Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural operations during this period, while travellers have been urged to follow traffic advisories and plan their movement accordingly.(NVI)
